Event details

Shadows and Mirrors is a collaborative exhibition by visual artists Thomas Masingi and Neo Mlangeni, showcasing photography, video art, printmaking, and multi-media works. The exhibition explores themes of identity and gender, reflecting on the concept of the “shadow self” drawn from Jungian psychology. It examines how individuals conceal aspects of themselves, how society influences performances of masculinity and femininity, and how self-acceptance can be found by embracing both light and shadow. Through their work, Masingi and Mlangeni invite audiences to confront vulnerability, negotiate inner darkness, and discover balance in the human experience. Visitors can expect a multi-sensory experience combining photography, video art, printmaking, digital collage, and mixed-media installations. These diverse forms are carefully curated to encourage reflection on the balance between light and shadow, both in art and in life.
