IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD….. It takes many landowners to raise a reserve The Dinokeng Game Reserve (DGR) is only about 14 years old(young). This is a world first where small land portions of many individual landowners are combined, like a quilt, to form a large game reserve. Any South African will know, from experience, that getting a group of individuals to see a common goal and to agree is extremely difficult. This applies to sport, politics and to create a great game reserve. The fact however remains that the vision, to be part of creating a Big 5 game reserve for posterity, is something that very few people will ever have the chance to achieve. The ultra rich can afford to buy thousands of hectares, spend hundreds of millions and pride themselves on their achievement. What is happening in Dinokeng Game Reserve is even more remarkable… Here, ordinary people, like you and me, are doing what was thought of impossible a few years ago. With all the strive, disagreement and the few who still put personal gain as a priority, the Dinokeng Game Reserve is growing and getting better every month. Given the bad publicity some other reserves recently received regarding the state of game management and food/ grazing available, we can honestly say (and you can clearly see) all animals in the DGR have more than enough food to eat. We have been blessed with abundant rain and our habitat is looking beautifully. We therefore thank all the landowners who actively participate and help maintain and grow this wonderful vision of a Big 5 Reserve. The main aim is for animals to prosper. You as our valued guest and visitor is also contributing to the establishment and growth of this wonderful entity.
